The Backstory: Encore

Oh my UI with super huge buttons, badly positioned unit frames and 8fps!! Anyone following this blog from day 1 will know that the reason for me starting to blog was to write about my progress in WoW and while that has sort of happened I’ve never really caught up with my pre-blogging story. The last installment was 10 months ago and got to the end of Ulduar in terms…

The Backstory: Deadwood Days (pt 3)

It really is strange, I made this blog because I wanted to tell the story of my progress in WoW and I am not even close to telling the story upto the point I started the blog some 27 months ago. Anyway, the story so far can be read in the following posts The Backstory: Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5, Part 6, Part 7, Part 8, Part 9, Part 10, Part 11, and Part 12, which ended with me…

The Backstory: Deadwood Days (pt 2)

Been a long while, since I posted a “Backstory“, in fact just looking at the last one and its been almost 6 months, man I have been slacking more than I realised. So I guess it’s time to make amends for my erroneous ways. So just a brief recap of where I left the story, a few months into The Burning Crusade myself and a few friends set up our own raiding…

The Backstory: Deadwood Days

Deadwood 1st raid Boss Kill July 4th 2007 and Shynight started a tradition… While I still consider Vanilla the Golden Era of raiding, it was with Deadwood that I had the most fun and success. As mentioned in my most recent “The Backstory” post prior to forming Deadwood my previous guild, Teddybears of Doom had just killed High King Maulgar and had made good progress through Karazhan. The group of players we…

Against The Legion

Still back in Vanilla, WoW Classic, WoW 1.x whatever you choose to call it I was happy raiding as “one of the team”. Then one day Gemmlas, the priest class leader and healing lead announced he was taking a step back for a few weeks for work reason and announced that he would be looking for someone to step up and take over the healing assignments when he wasn’t around….

Magmaw down

Apologies for this post but it was a rapid replacement of the one planned. Last night was one of the proudest moments of my WoW raiding life. In only our 4th real night of attempts on Magmaw, Saturday Knight Fever killed him. The only better moments I can recall were my first kills on Nefarian, Gruul and Lich King. Sure for most progression raiders we’re weeks behind but the point is we’re not elite raiders we’re…

Sceptre of the Shifting Sands

After more than 5 years of having this in my quest log, I am very happy to have finally completed the Sceptre of the Shifting Sands questline. It all started with a loot drop from Broodlord Lashlayer in Blackwing Lair back in early 2006 and progressed very slowly as I gained rep to hit neutral rep , you start at hated, with the Brood of Nozdormu, which this took me until until…

Pre-Cataclysm Changes

Wrath of the Lich King and raiding ICC had become a bit of a chore for me lately, I found myself logging in for raids and do the occasional thing here and there, but my time in game has dropped dramatically because of this boredom/frustration and the guild drama a few weeks ago made things tougher. The time that I spent in game outside of raiding was spent with some…

Now the end is here

Well for me Wrath of the Lich King is finally conquered I have succesfully defeated Arthas, the Lich King  on 10 and 25 man modes, no heroic version but I really never anticipated that happening. Its been a long journey, I started attempts on Lich King 10 way back in February when I joined Immersion, missed the run where the 10 man group killed him and that meant progression moved…
